Our Okavango Delta gem, Xugana Island Lodge, remains temporarily closed as renovations and rebuilding continue. Our muse is the lodge’s setting, widely recognised as the most spectacular permanent water site in the Okavango Delta region. Renders of what’s to come in May 2025 are here! Have you seen them yet?
Xugana Island Lodge 2025:
The pool will be repositioned to offer expansive, uninterrupted views of the Delta. Our curio shop, reception, and dining areas will be integrated into spacious, multi-level decks, providing elevated vantage points for the best possible views.
A standout addition is our Overwater Fire-Deck, a truly unique feature that extends beyond the island. Here, you can step directly onto the water’s edge, enjoying panoramic views beneath the open sky—an ideal setting for unforgettable moments, both day and night.
Xugana’s Rooms will Mirror the Delta:
Inside, fresh décor will echo the beautiful blue hues of the lagoon through tasteful touches of colour combined with earthy fabrics and furniture for a seamless blend of contemporary and organic.
Privacy remains focal, with each room placed on the island’s fringe, honouring our inspiration with full views. A comfortable seating area, including a plush lounger, will provide the perfect spot to relax and soak in the breathtaking surroundings.
Every room will be en suite with indoor showers and double vanities. A spacious writing desk and a closet for storage will allow you to unpack and feel at home in our truly stunning oasis.
Further expansion will also introduce two new rooms and a family suite in a previously unexplored area of the island, ensuring that the privacy and seclusion Xugana Island Lodge is known for continues to be a key feature.
Continued Conscious Exploration:
As committed stewards of the environment, we at Desert & Delta Safaris will uphold our minimal-impact ethos by introducing a state-of-the-art power plant that enables us to operate entirely off the grid. Additionally, we’ve prioritised the use of durable, lightweight materials to reduce transport demands and protect the ecosystem which we hold truly dear.
In addition to technological advancements, we remain steadfast in our mission to empower people and preserve the past. In collaboration with our phenomenal guiding team, we will continue to mindfully offer boating, fishing, mokoro (traditional canoe) meanders, nature walks and other epic experiences—many of which blend adventure and culture for memories that hold profound meaning.
Come May 2025, our doors will again be open to all seeking a reprieve from the ordinary and nourishment for the soul. We look forward to captivating with an unparalleled experience in this remarkable region, where Xugana Island Lodge will stand proudly as a beacon, welcoming you to Botswana—our home.
