Chobe Savanna Lodge
Chobe Savanna Lodge is situated in the Eastern Zambezi Region, along the northern bank of the Chobe River, which serves as a natural border between Namibia and Botswana. The lodge is wrapped in wetland and grassland terrain, and overlooks sweeping floodplains, Chobe National Park’s iconic Puku Flats, and riverine forests in the distance. This is a setting with defining character, and an experience brought to life by Desert & Delta Safaris.

THE SETTING
The Chobe River is a vital ecological artery, shaping the land and wildlife along its banks. It draws elephants, guides predators, and sustains migratory birds, bringing life to floodplains, grasslands and riverine forests. Forming the natural boundary between Botswana’s Chobe National Park and Namibia’s Eastern Zambezi Region, the river places Chobe Savanna Lodge at the heart of a living frontier. From this vantage point, cradled by 270 degrees of water, you experience an ever-unfolding spectacle of movement and connection. Intimate, elemental and unforgettable.
THE SAFARI SUITES
“Each chalet is set out to capture a different view of the Chobe River and the surrounding landscape, so every unit feels slightly different and offers its own experience of the site.” – Dexter Bosch, Architect
The lodge has 13 safari chalets, two of which can be booked as an interleading safari chalet for guests travelling with family or company (2 connected safari chalets with two separate entrances). All, including the interleading safari option, are en suite, have private viewing decks, and can be configured as twin or double.
The safari chalets are slightly raised on wooden platforms, and the new glass-fronted design invites guests to step out onto the private viewing deck to enjoy the setting and vistas. Both the structure and design foster an indoor-outdoor experience that feels equally connected to the elements and cradled in comfort.
Each en suite bathroom includes an indoor shower, single vanity, and tall windows that draw in natural light. The chalets are generously spaced and thoughtfully refurbished, ensuring absolute privacy that honours and respects the environment, and provides a peaceful haven for guests.
Natural textures and tones of the region are woven throughout, grounding each space in its setting. Thoughtful touches—from a beautiful writing desk to quiet corners for rest—enhance the experience, while practical comforts such as a ceiling fan and air-conditioning, mosquito net, and eco-friendly toiletries allow guests to fully relax and settle into the rhythm of the bush.
Safari chalets 1 to 6 are now positioned to the west, and 7 to 13 are east-facing. The strategic split ensures absolute privacy and enhances an experience defined by true tranquillity in nature. Safari chalets 11 and 12 can be booked independently or as interleading. The chalets extend from the core of Chobe Savanna Lodge like two gentle branches, with the main area thoughtfully positioned at their head.
THE LODGE
This is the beating heart of Chobe Savanna Lodge, where unforgettable adventure begins, and days unfold leisurely. Here, meals are shared in community (or privately, on request), time slows on multiple raised decks, and wildlife encounters begin without travelling far.
With 180-degree elevated views of the surrounding wetlands, grasslands, and the Chobe River beyond, in-lodge game viewing is rewarding. Elephants, antelopes of various species, and prolific birdlife are known to roam and soar into full view, and guests have every platform to settle in and watch Mother Nature’s big screen.
The main areas include various lounge pockets, which, like the dining areas and plentiful viewing decks, offer covered and open-air options. Dining celebrates our heart for sharing and is communal, though private dining is inclusive and available on request for all guests.
From quiet corners to the extended breakfast deck, facilities are designed to enhance every moment and keep guests close to the environment. The main area is complete with a fully stocked bar, buffet and coffee station, and the swimming pool and boma area, which await on the ground level, and are accessible from the main area and walkways linked to/from the safari chalets.
Additional lodge amenities include daily complimentary laundry, all-inclusive meals and drinks, and Wi-Fi throughout for those who need to considerately check in with loved ones before tuning back into nature. Tying it all together is the Desert & Delta Safaris team, whose authentic African hospitality leaves a lasting impression. Warm, soulful, and personal.
