Sleep under the stars at Camp Okavango

Earlier this year we announced the launch of our new Salt Pans Sleep-Out at Leroo La Tau as an incredible new experience on offer in the Makgadikgadi region. Leroo La Tau is not the only lodge in our circuit that has been hard at work in the lockdown. We are delighted to now announce the completion of our brand-new Sleep-Out Deck at Camp Okavango.

The Sleep-Out Deck is the newest addition to our beautiful Camp Okavango, an eco-sensitive hidden gem in the heart of the Okavango Delta. Comprised of 11 Safari Suites and one Family Suite, Camp Okavango offers unparalleled views of the pristine landscape and with the addition of the new Sleep-Out Deck, guests can marvel at the dazzling night sky as they sleep under the stars. The Sleep-Out Deck is available to book from the 1st of June 2021 to the 31st of October 2021 and is a complimentary experience for couples and families staying three nights or longer.

SLEEP-OUT IN THE BOTSWANA WILDERNESS

A once in a lifetime experience, a night spent on the Sleep-Out Deck will allow guests to reconnect with nature in one of the world’s most awe-inspiring natural environments. The Okavango Delta represents one of the world’s largest wetland wildernesses – a pristine destination where animals thrive. With 160 species of mammals and 530 species of bird, this is one of the best places to see wildlife in Africa. The luxury Sleep-Out Deck allows guests to get up close and personal with their surroundings. The Sleep-Out Deck includes an expansive double bed, where guests can lie back and take in the magical sights and sounds of the Botswanabush. Fall asleep gazing at the glittering night sky and gently wake up to the stunning African sunrise andglorious sound of birdsong. Comfort has also been kept in mind, and the deck is fitted with a private toilet and mosquito nets. In keeping with the beautiful design of Camp Okavango, the Sleep-Out Deck is elevated to take advantage of the breath-taking panoramic views and keep guests protected from the roaming wildlife. Facing eastwards, you can take in the spectacular Botswana sunrise, as Camp Okavango’s outstanding staff will provide fresh morning tea and coffee to take in the experience.

From August 2021, an additional bed can be added to the deck to accommodate small families (with a maximum of two children between the age of 6 – 12 years old). A dedicated, qualified guide will always be a short distance away to ensure your family’s safety and comfort while at the same time providing you with privacy to enjoy the Okavango Delta all to yourself.

CAMP OKAVANGO

Having opened in the 1980s, Camp Okavango was the first luxury safari camp of its kind in Botswana. Rebuilt in 2016, the property features eleven spacious suites and one two-bedroom family suite to create an intimate setting that ensures a peaceful and authentic safari experience. Breath-taking views of the Okavango Delta can be seen from the elevated rooms. The Okavango Delta supports large concentrations of wildlife such as lions, elephants, giraffe, African buffalo, and hippopotamus. This pristine environment can be explored by either water or land, by guided bushwalk, modern motorboat or in a traditional mokoro (dugout canoe).
