Welcome to the Moremi Game Reserve, an oasis of wilderness in the heart of the Okavango Delta, Botswana.

Spanning over 5,000 square kilometers, this reserve is home to some of the wildest experiences you could imagine in the heart of Africa. This vast protected area is teeming with an incredible variety of wildlife, including elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, wild dogs, tsessebe and many more.

In the heart of the Moremi Game Reserve are two of Desert and Delta’s luxury properties – Camp Moremi and Camp Xakanaxa. Both are placed strategically allowing you to truly immerse yourselves in all that this region has to offer with a mix of wetlands, savannas, and woodlands.

Water plays a critical role in the ecology of the reserve. The seasonal flowing of the delta is the primary source of water for the wildlife in this area. If you prefer discovering Moremi via its large and extensive tributaries, channels and lagoons, our team will guide you through the maze of the delta by boat where you can enjoy seeing the water-based wildlife found in this area. These waterways support a rich diversity of aquatic wildlife, including hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of fish species. The floodplains are also a prime habitat for water-loving antelopes such as lechwe and the rare sitatunga.

Moremi is home to over 500 species of birds from tiny sunbirds to majestic eagles. This paradise for bird lovers is a colorful display of Africa’s most renowned bird species. One of the most striking features of the birdlife in Moremi Game Reserve is the sheer diversity of colors and patterns on display. From the iridescent blue of the Malachite Kingfisher to the bold black-and-white stripes of the African Pied Wagtail, the plumage of these feathered creatures is a visual feast for the eyes. The vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows of the various sunbird species are particularly eye-catching, as they flit from flower to flower in search of nectar. Their melodious songs and calls echo across the savannas, woodlands, and wetlands making a marvelous wilderness serenade – here one can find absolute peace.

The possibilities for adventure in Moremi are boundless, and even after a full day of exploring, nature continues to offer up delightful surprises. As the sun descends below the horizon, the sky transforms into a living canvas, painting a breathtaking portrait of colors and hues that stretch over the landscape of Moremi. And as the sun disappears completely, the moon takes its place, illuminating the night sky with a brilliance that is awe-inspiring. It is at this point that the nocturnal animals begin to stir, adding their own symphony of sounds to the natural orchestra of the wilderness.
